A Fort Collins Landmark Since 1873
The Northern Hotel is one of downtown Fort Collins' most recognized and storied buildings. Originally built in 1873 as the Agricultural Hotel, it was renamed the Northern in 1904 and developed into an elegant first-class establishment that served the city through both World Wars, the Great Depression, and decades of change.
After a striking Art Deco renovation in the 1930s and years of decline, the Northern was beautifully rehabilitated in 2001 as an $11.8 million public-private project — preserving both its 1880s Italianate character and its Art Deco façade while creating 47 affordable senior apartments. The project won a Governor's Award for Downtown Excellence.
Today, the Northern Hotel is a true community — a place where seniors enjoy independent living, warm neighbors, and an unbeatable location in the heart of Old Town. Managed by Terra Management Group, LLC, we're committed to responsive management, well-maintained homes, and a community where every resident feels valued.
